Capacitors

 
 

Introduction

In electric power distribution, capacitors are used for power factor correction, the purpose is to counteract inductive loading from devices like electric transformers, motors and transmission lines to make the load appear to be mostly resistive. Individual magnetization loads may have capacitors for power factor correction, or larger sets of capacitors (usually with automatic switching devices) may be installed at a load center and utility substation.


Our low voltage capacitors normally low loss which consist of aluminum foil, paper, or all film-insulated cells immersed in a biodegradable insulating fluid or dry type and sealed in a metallic container depending on size and rating,


For medium voltage capacitors having low loss and are available as either single- or three-phase units in voltage ratings up to 34,500 volts and 200 kilovar fixed or switching type. Individual units may be connected in multiples to provide banks of various capacities , voltage ratings and switching such as time, current or power factor control. All capacitor banks should be equipped with a powerful switch to disconnect them from the electric system when power factor reach to design values.


Features

The equipment shall have successfully passed all the type tests or design tests in accordance with the Thai Industry Standards and the following international standards:

  • IEC Publication 60593 Internal fuses and internal overpressure disconnector, for shunt capacitor.
  • IEC Publication 60831-1, 60831-2 Shunt power capacitors of the self-healing type for ac system having a rated voltage up to and including 1000 V.
  • IEC Publication 60996 Method for verifying accuracy of tan delta measurements applicable to capacitors.
  • IEC Publication 60871: Shunt capacitor for ac power systems having a rated voltage above 1,000 V.
  • IEC Publication 60289 : Reactors.

All the products shall be completely passed the routine test before delivery to the local and oversea customers.
